Preface from the Print Edition
I was requested by various instances to write about Biblical doctrines from my Pentecostal-charismatic background. That put me immediately before the challenge of what the main and overriding theme of such a publication should be. The theme would inevitably constitute the approach to and the general framework of an undertaking of this kind. I came to the conviction that dogmatics is, in the first place, based upon one’s encounter with God through his Son, Jesus Christ, as revealed in Holy Scriptures and the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Consequently I decided that my paradigm should be Christo-centric in nature.
Christ is not only our Saviour, Lord, Baptiser in the Holy Spirit, Sanctifier, King and coming Bridegroom; He is also the all-encompassing Alpha and Omega. He is the One of, through and unto whom everything (man included) exist. He is the way, the truth and the life. It is with this in view, that I ventured into interpreting, systematising and presenting main Biblical doctrines.
Although having learned much from the contributions of world renowned theologians, I refrained from trying to give a resumé of the various views on dogmatical issues. I decided rather to keep it simple and straightforward. I concede that even Pentecostals will find some of the things I wrote to be strange to what they used to believe. Much aware of my own shortcomings, I realise the existence of deficiencies in what I present in these seven volumes. After all, this is to be expected from anyone trying to give account of truths so sublime that they often transcend man’s thoughts and perceptions. I am, however, comforted by the fact that God dose graciously use fallible men like me to convey some words of light and life to fellow-men...It is my prayer that the reading of these volumes will redound to the glory of God and the spiritual enrichment of those interested in Biblical truths.
